What happened, MNHQ?

OP posts:
IAmLurkacus · 30/08/2018 14:42

Very disappointed that this appears to have not gone ahead?

AgnesBadenPowell · 30/08/2018 14:43

Yes, what happened? Members have taken great time and care to present detailed, referenced questions for discussion, and not a peep from you.

Mamaryllis · 30/08/2018 14:44

Another voice of concern - are questions about safeguarding concerns now being ignored by the NSPCC?
If so, is the NSPCC fit for purpose?

HermioneWeasley · 30/08/2018 14:51

In the absence of any explanation, this is looking extremely dodgy

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 14:52

I missed this, but I can guess what it’s about.

Why the radio silence?

EmpressOfSpartacus · 30/08/2018 14:54

Surely if there had been an accident or problem or something, MN would have posted about it.

This is looking like a statement that the NSPCC aren't interested in answering questions about safeguarding girls & reinforcing their right to boundaries.

I really, really want to be proved wrong on that.

Here’s a link to the thread about the web chat

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_facebook_live/3343961-Facebook-Live-about-talking-to-kids-about-staying-safe-from-abuse-with-NSPCC?pg=5&order=

No matter what your view on this issue, it is surely of grave concern to everybody that the NSPCC seem to be incapable of answering questions from concerned parents and women regarding child safeguarding, so much so that they have had to abandon this webchat without explanation?

RachelMumsnet · 30/08/2018 14:55

We're sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. We are in discussion with the NSPCC and will be updating you shortly.

LemonJello · 30/08/2018 14:55

They cant answer the questions posed, and they can’t even talk about why they can’t answer them

LemonJello · 30/08/2018 14:56

Thank you Rachel.

HermioneWeasley · 30/08/2018 14:57

Interesting that there is something that requires “discussion”

Is it along the lines of “oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!”

Datun · 30/08/2018 15:02

Is it along the lines of “oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!”

Exactly.

People at the NSPCC,

There are 12 million unique users per month on Mumsnet.

That's a lot of women. Many are parents.

This is not niche. This is a nationwide scandal. We know it, you need to know it.

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 15:02

LemonJello thanks for the link.

I await the further response with bated breath fully aware it is not going to be anything like satisfactory

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 15:03

Exactly.

LangCleg · 30/08/2018 15:18

Well, colour me shocked. My contempt has yet to find a limit. I wonder if it ever will?

Women on a parenting website ask detailed questions about the protection and safeguarding of vulnerable minors and the country's biggest child welfare charity is too frit to answer them.

This is where we are.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 30/08/2018 15:22

Perhaps if we want to talk about safeguarding we should be doing a webchat with Stephanie Davies-Arai of Transgender Trend?

OP posts:
BeyondAnOmnishambles · 30/08/2018 15:31

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.

Mamaryllis · 30/08/2018 15:35

No. We NEED the NSPCC to finally take the helm on this. To stop taking advice from Stonewall and Mermaids, and critically assess this input for propaganda. They need to place all children front and centre, and ensure that their guidance doesn’t accidentally expose girls to danger.
Hopefully that will include them taking advice from Stephanie, Heather BrunskellEvans et al. No one wants to harm children. But too many organizations have not stopped to consider the impact on girls.
And I include the vast numbers of girls who are having their puberty medically halted and being set on pathways to body altering surgery and sterilization at the behest if adult male bodied people and their unthinking supporters.
Who is protecting the girls if the NSPCC won’t?

Mrbatmun · 30/08/2018 15:40

This is actually unbelievable!

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 15:42

I wish it were unbelievable. It should be, but it’s not. PC bullshit gone fucking batshit.

IAmLurkacus · 30/08/2018 15:45

This thread will feature in the 2058 public inquiry into how we fucked up so badly 40 years ago protecting our children and how it will never happen again.

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 15:51

IAmLurkacus the awful thing is I think you’re right.

History will judge and it won’t be pretty.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 30/08/2018 16:06

History will judge and it won’t be pretty.

But the people currently responsible intend to have retired and be enjoying their pensions before that happens.

YeTalkShiteHen · 30/08/2018 16:08

Oh absolutely they will.

As with many scandals when it is realised that children have been negatively affected (understatement of the century) it’s always too fucking late for the victims and the perpetrators are either dead or too old.

Savile being the prime example. And many priests who are long dead but it’s coming out that they were known abusers.

OwThatsGottaHurt · 30/08/2018 16:24

The silence is deafening Sad
