Hi. I'm not sure how helpful it is to add the Swears by message to the end of multiple years old threads.

I came on here to say the same thing. Please can you tell Frankie to stop doing this. Thank you!

Hi @eleanorofaquitaine and @MyDogHasNoNose, thanks for flagging this and sorry for clogging up your feed.

Mumsnet has lots of old talk threads that still get a fair amount of traffic from search. We were testing adding links to old threads in order to help people visiting Mumsnet from search find more up-to-date content, but - somewhat embarrassingly - we didn’t think about the ramifications of posting on all these zombie threads until it was too late Blush.

We also got a little, er, overzealous on this test, which has caused a bit of chaos over on Style & Beauty - a lesson learned.

We don’t currently have a way of posting on these threads without resurrecting them, but we’re working on it. Thanks for bearing with us while we work out a solution.

"but - somewhat embarrassingly - we didn’t think about the ramifications of posting on all these zombie threads until it was too late"

Really? Why not? Surely someone at MNHQ must have said it was a bad idea? Or maybe not? Hmm

TheGirlWhoLived · 14/08/2018 17:06

Oh it was just a mistake. Less of the Hmm face, more spreading the Gin

When did people forget how to live and let live?!

PanPanPanPing · 14/08/2018 17:13

But surely someone doing an IT/tech job professionally must have realised. Actually, I'm not putting the blame on Frankie at all, but someone more senior to her must have realised the ramifications - or perhaps it was a test for her ?!

MyDogHasNoNose · 14/08/2018 17:15

Thanks Mumsnet. I hadn’t realised that you were already on the case.

TheGirlWhoLived · 14/08/2018 17:23

They should have realised, but it seems alas they didn’t.

I once sent an email to a highly senior consultant with a Kiss at the end... obviously I should have realised that as a lowly pa there should have been less kisses but it slipped through the net.

Luckily he laughed about it- so now I pay it forward Grin.

C’est la vie and all that
