Focus moving from entry field while I am typing

I have noticed this a lot lately. In fact it has happened to me four five twelve times while typing this thread title and message.

Basically I put focus on a field and start typing. Then I look up and discover that much of what I have typed has not appeared because something has randomly caused the focus to move away from the input field.

I tried watching really carefully while typing this and it is not something I am doing it just seems to happen randomly. It might coincide with when one of the adverts is refreshing.

So frustrating!

I came here to see if anyone had posted about this. I get it too, also when I am using space bar to scroll down a thread. it's when the adverts in the side bar refresh I think. it's really fucking irritating.

You can see it happening. If you select the Message field you can tell that it has the input focus because the field is outlined in blue and your cursor is visible and if you type while this is the case whatever you type appears. If the field is not outlined in blue this means it has lost focus and anything you type will just not appear.

So if you select the Message field you see the blue outline. Then don't type or anything just watch. After a while one of the adverts refreshes and what do you know your Message field has lost the focus. If this happens while you are typing a long reply while looking mainly at the keyboard you look up to see - nothing

Yep this happens to me too, it's terribly annoying and makes typing the same text take about 5x longer.

it's particularly irritating that it happens on the laptop rather than the phone - I use the laptop if I'm feeling wordier because supposedly it's easier.

How is this not driving EVERYBODY stark staring mad?

I have just been posting on AIBU and it was happening all the time and has happened several times just in typing this short post.

Has anyone else also found that the pages are flipping? As I type, I'll hit one key and go back two or more pages in the middle of my reply! As well as typing away and either losing focus or the page suddenly scrolling to the bottom.

It's been bad before, then got better, today it seems to be worse again!

The lose focus thing happens to me too and I'm fairly sure it's the drone advert that's doing it. Frankly, I'm amazed that they think there are a lot of us here with £630 to splurge on a drone, but that's by the by. It's an annoying advert anyway but the interference with my typing is driving me nuts.

glad its not me, its been driving me mad for a couple of days. As it hadn't cleared , I came on here . This has typed up no problem though ...

It's not just you, and it's incredibly annoying. Like a pp, I think it has something to do with all the bloody adverts.

Does anyone else get the backwards typing too?

I've got it too. Glad its not my new Mac acting up.
