A request - some way of blocking adverts that may be individually upsetting

I don't have any problem with mn showing adverts but I wish there was a way to opt out of specific adverts that an individual might find upsetting even if there is nothing wrong with the product or advert itself.

The particular one I have a problem with is the "pre seed" product to help ttc. I'm sure this is a relevant and useful advert for a huge number of MNers trying to conceive. There are also a lot of MNers with eg secondary fertility issues who may have spent years ttc baby#2 and eventually gave up but are still grieving the loss of the planned-for larger family.

There are probably other examples of ads that some people could find upsetting - anyone else care to contribute examples? - and equally there are huge numbers that no one would be upset by (at the moment I have adverts for clothing retail. This is fine).

Can we have a way to tag a specific advert as unwelcome?

Perhaps with a limit so that no one can just block every advert as obviously you need advertising revenue.

Hi Imchlibob,

We're so sorry you've been upset by this advert - but we're afraid that we don't have a system in place for users to individually target adverts as unwelcome. We're always mindful that our advertising partners are relevant and useful to Mumsnetters, but we do appreciate that this isn't what you want to see right now.

Apologies again for any upset caused

Lizzie
