Pages reloading constantly

This is actually two problems.
1 when opening a page for the first time it is constantly downloading stuff which makes the page jump about and jump about again, and again and again.... for anything up to 30 seconds. I assume this is caused by ads.

2 when reading a page (I have the whole thread on one page) when it has finished loading and jumping about, and i have finally found where I last read to, or the bookmark has taken effect, I continue reading, scroll slowly down as I read and then there's suddenly that old "there was a problem loading this page so it was reloaded" message and Iam back to square one waiting for the damn thing to do its thing for up to 30 seconds.

Whatever is causing it is making MN unusable today. It's been almost every single thread.

It's nothing new op, I've had the same problem for weeks, along with the screen freezing/ refusing to completely load.it's the same on iPad or laptop ☹️

Jux · 22/06/2018 17:23

Yes, it has been happening for a while, but today has been particularly bad and I was feeling in enough of a grump to complain about it. Grin Not so grumpy now and this is the first yhread I've looked at since Igot home just now so don't know how bad it is right now, but earlier it really was dreadful.

Yep me too. Ipad safari desktop. Same problem that we've had before, everything taking ages to load, clicking on anything, eg different boards, refresh, etc taking ages

Typing a message frequentlynhas delays beforevthe letters appear and copy & paste causing thebwhole browser to freeze.

Completely unusable at times

KimMumsnet · 22/06/2018 22:24

Hiya
Sorry to hear that this has been happening - sounds really frustrating. We will try to get to the bottom of it - can you let us know which device and browser you are using, and maybe send us a jpeg of any error message?
Thanks,
Kim

Thanks Jux - we are on the case so should get it sorted before too long.
Have a good weekend,

Thanks Kim

Fingers crossed

ReginaldMolehusband · 23/06/2018 13:17

Been the same for me for ages, resorted to installing the app. Not just mumsnet , other sites loaded with ads and stuff do the same.
Don't think having an older iPad running ios9 helps though, maybe hasn't got the brain power to cope.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/06/2018 13:45

Mines an ipad air 2 with the latest OS Reginald. Makes no difference.

This problem has been going on for a couple of years. This latest exacerbation for about 3 weeks now.

ReginaldMolehusband · 23/06/2018 13:52

Thanks for that Bore, was pondering upgrading my iPad cos of this but won't bother now. That's a few quid saved!

Jux · 23/06/2018 17:56

It's nice to know that we've given the staff something meaningful to do at the weekend, isn't it? Grin

No, I really didn't mean that, it was like a joke (only smaller). Here's Gin Please don't ban me Wink

I'll stop digging and say thanks instead.

Thanks KimMumsnet

Yep.

They don't care. I've posted numerous times that it doesn't work properly on the iPad. Jumping/ freezing/ reloading.

Now I'm having to pay to use this site*, I expect it to work properly. It works perfectly well in my cheap android phone.

*The ridiculous amount of moving ads means I'm am paying dearly via my data. For this reason, I refuse to click on a link. If it's something I happen to want, I'll clear my history and go directly to the site avoiding MN.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/06/2018 20:17

Still. Driving. Me. Mad.

ColoursOfRain · 27/06/2018 20:55

Today's problem (other than slooooow sticking typing) is continually jumping back to the top of the thread (as though there's a bookmark on one of the top posts).

DPotter · 27/06/2018 20:57

The slow sticky typing seems to have resolved - desk top computer.
but the screen still jumps about

Jux · 27/06/2018 21:07

Ah, my slow sticky typing is still a problem. And pages are still reloading and slow to load and bouncing about while they do.

BUT I'm strong. I'll take it so the rest of you don't continue to suffer......
