Weird, squiffy, overlaid, superimposed view on iPads - still

A couple of us reported this on Tuesday on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/3281642-Is-there-a-problem-with-logging-in-out, which was, admittedly originally about a different issue (although I suspect they're all linked, because it happened at the same time!) and someone else started a thread in Chat (also linked on the linked thread), where a few more people were having the same problems.

But has Tech investigated the squiffy view on an iPad/tablet yet? I'm still having the same problem three days later. Can't use MN on my iPad at all.

Hi, we are looking into it. It looks like it's older versions of Safari on iOS that are affected. Do you know which version of iOS you are using?

No idea! I can only post from my laptop at the moment anyway.

Where would I find the version of the OS on my iPad please? I've found something that says 8.1.1 - does that make sense?

Me too! For 5 or 6 weeks I haven't been able to use Safari to view Mumsnet as the page would keep freezing, so resorted to using an alternative browser - Puffin or Dolphin. Today, I thought I'd try Safari again, to find it has gone very weird, I'll try to attach a screenshot. My iPad is an older version - IOS 8.4.

Oh, I can view on Puffin OK, but on Dolphin I get the same weirdness as Safari.

Oh god. I've never heard of Puffin or Dolphin - I suppose that means I'm very OOD with everything

I've never really liked Safari anyway. I used to be a Firefox fan on my iMacs and MacBooks (long-standing Apple fan!)

I'm having this problem and yes, I am using an older version of safari on an old iPad. I dont want to upgrade so a fix would be lovely.

I have the latest version of Safari on ipad. I use the desktop site.

I have been intermittently plagued by problems for a couple of years now. Only ever on Mumsnet. I've made many many complaints on Site Stuff about this. The problems settle for a bit and then start again. They've been really bad for a couple of weeks now, worse at different times of the day and frequently make the site unusable for me.
Clicking on to anything (topics, threads, my mumsnet etc) long delay before responding.
Posts have a time lag between typing and text appearing.
Attempting to paste anything (links, text) causes browser to freeze
Attempting to click into typed text, to correct the inevitable typos causes freezing.
The freezing sometimes corrects itself after a delay of up to a couple of minutes, other times I have to close the browser completely.
Delay after clicking 'post message'

As I say, this has been a problem for a long long time on more than one ipad. I know I'm not the only one affected by this.

Well. At least the squiffy view on my iPad has disappeared and it's all gone back to normal - for the moment!

Has anyone else still got this happening on an iPad? Weird overlay effect only on Talk.

It was still fine for me a couple of hours ago, since it was fixed about two months ago. No problems since then.

Bugger, it's probably just my ancient iPad that won't update to a newer version ... really annoying.
