Have you thought of this as an idea?

I wanted to write a comment about a TV show to those in a thread that have seen it but other people have only just started watching. Perhaps in the same way you can use * to bold things, there could be a feature where you highlight the text you want hidden and then click a button and something like [SPOILER] wraps around the text and then those that want to click it can and those that don't, don't?

People could do it themselves, I guess?

A bit like this :

PanPanPanPing · 24/05/2018 16:54

Although, that didn't work as I used a YouTube video as an example Blush

MissionItsPossible · 24/05/2018 19:03

But aren't you just posting a link doing that? Where would the message link to?

OP posts:
PanPanPanPing · 24/05/2018 20:13

Well, yes. But if someone did this SPOILER ALERT, for example, then people will only click on the link if they want to see the spoiler?!

I'm not sure whether MNHQ Techs are going to be too keen on this idea Grin

MissionItsPossible · 24/05/2018 20:33

I don't think you're getting what I'm getting at @PanPanPanPing :)

Using the forums example from Digital spy that you just linked to, they use spoilers, like in a comment like this:

forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/comment/90186272/#Comment_90186272

I'm talking about something similar for MN. So you can add your own comments but hide any spoilers.

Sounds like a good idea but then all posters who have read it would be talking about it. That’s why you have a spoiler and a non spoiler thread. If you are few Episodes behind then you be silly to try read a thread where others are further ahead. Not unless you want to spoil it for
Yourself!

Hi OP,

Thanks for the suggestion. If lots of you want this, we can certainly punt it over for consideration (though we can't promise owt, mind!)

ATM, folks tend to put 'spoilers' or 'no spoilers' in the thread title (or ask us to edit them) and that's generally worked fairly well so far, we think.
