I noticed this instead of the time and date on some threads today. What does it mean?

I wanna know too! Don't like it, I like to see dates and times of postings.

timetoheal · 17/05/2018 15:25

Me to. what does it mean ??

CaptainHammer · 17/05/2018 15:25

I was just about to post the same thing. I wasn’t sure if it was my iPad but it’s doing it on my phone too. Safari and chrome.

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/05/2018 15:27

Me too!
I don't like it Sad

(ipad, safari, desktop)

concretesieve · 17/05/2018 15:36

And me - I'm using a kindle fire.

MissionItsPossible · 17/05/2018 15:36

@timetoheal
Me to. what does it mean ??

I think it's coding that has just gone a little bit wrong.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 17/05/2018 15:44

I'm seeing this - and missing bits where it should say watch this thread etc

I was about to post this, maybe someone was updating the coding and has missed out some code.

PixelLady42 · 17/05/2018 15:51

It's something called a variable - which means it can change depending on what value its assigned.
In this case it's representing a placeholder for the date and time in the talk software.

Obviously it should be the actual date and time value, so it looks like either it isn't being populated with the correct date and time values so it's showing the variable text instead, or the talk software hasn't been correctly 'told' it's a variable (declared) so it's just displaying it as plain text instead.

Either way just a coding mistake and nothing sinister! :) (can you tell I work in software?)

SluttyButty · 17/05/2018 15:51

I was just coming to enquire about this Confused

PixelLady42 · 17/05/2018 15:55

I didn't originally look properly at the screenshot - as the variable is enclosed in double quotes "" that's usually treated as text.
If the quotes are removed from the website code it should go back to normal.

SophieLMumsnet · 17/05/2018 15:58

Hi all,

Thanks for raising this! We're asking tech as we speak Flowers

TeenTimesTwo · 17/05/2018 16:00

It's like someone's put the variable name in quotes accidentally.
Quite unnerving.

Andylion · 17/05/2018 16:06

It has the word "stalk" in it, so I thought it was some clever way for posters to hide what time they had posted to avoid stalkers, Then I wondered why that would be necessary. Confused

I was going to post too, Chrome on HP laptop. It's everywhere for me, not just some posts

timetoheal · 17/05/2018 16:13

@missionitsossible. thank you, it just seemed so odd, glad it is being rectified

yawning801 · 17/05/2018 16:21

I posted something just now about the URL and it's disappeared... what is going on?? Also, above one of the ads on the Active page, it says $kit_block.render("Talk video block")

ScreamingValenta · 17/05/2018 16:26

I'm getting it on Safari

paxillin · 17/05/2018 16:45

I didn't see it at all, then once I had it on one thread, it was on all of them.

JennyWreny · 17/05/2018 17:21

As well as the above problem, I've also had this happen when clicking on a couple of threads in a search result -
