Thread ^just^ for questions about our data on mn, re EH breach...

Regarding this thread...
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3226060-The-MNHQ-Moderation-Team-Thread-2?msgid=77235272#77235272

Here are my questions (copied over from there), for @JustineMumsnet , other admin, or maybe even Tech!

A former MN employee stated upthread (on the linked thread) that sign up info is available to any mn admin. I don't have a problem with that necessarily, but just wanted to check - if I have changed from the info I signed up with to something less outing (say "Jane smith" and "[email protected]" to "Jane" and "[email protected]"), are both visible to you, or can you only see the updated one?

And with PMs, a few people have sent real names or addresses to one another. After Jeffery we were advised to delete anything like that in case of a breach, but can MNHQ see deleted PMs?

Then last one... I'm a product tester with the insight team. Assuming (hopefully!) the answer to the above two posts is that admin can't see my old/deleted data, are they able to access the insight team data?

I'm actually "out" in my real name so the TRA comeback isn't a massive concern in my case, but there is a lot of sensitive info on my mn posts over the past nine years that I'd rather not have linked to my real (quite uncommon) name.

Thanks for this Assigned

If i delete my account is any information from that deleted account (email, pms etc) stored anywhere?

Why can't i delete the username history associated with my account? I would like to be able to.

I'd also like to know answers to beyond's questions

I also wonder if there should be a sticky thread somewhere on how to cover your tracks online, particularly on boards like relationships. Some of us are more mature and haven't used computers or social media their whole lives. I know we accept the limitations of a platform like this when we sign up, and I'm sure mumsnet has probably saved many a woman's mental health if not their lives on the relationships board, but a bit of help might be good.

assigned thanks, i started writing my post before yours appeared!

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but if someone once provided their real name and physical address for an MN giveaway (like the book giveaways) is there any chance that this data could have been taken and linked to previous usernames and posts by EH?

I agree with Spartacus I’d like the option to have my past history wiped completely under all usernames

Here's a nasty thought. Deletion of posts under all names can itself be outing, if someone has access to a copy of mumsnet posts (like the one at a .ru address someone posted the other day). Because, if you have, say, identifying information posted under JaneBloggs and really sensitive information posted under MarySmith, then when both disappear simultaneously, that's a big clue that JaneBloggs and MarySmith are one and the same. At which point, the attacker with copies of both posts knows sensitive information about an identifiable individual.

Be very careful before you ask MNHQ to do this!

PanPanPanPing · 19/04/2018 17:22

Who were, or are, her 'friends' in MNHQ? Are they still supplying her with inside info, or doing whatever else she's requesting?
