App suggestion - user names

I only use iOS app so not sure how it works on desktop.

However if using more than one username, is it possible to have them in a list in profile settings so it's easy to switch between them? Otherwise I have to free type the names and remember what I've used! And I only have two I think!

I use the desktop, so it's different from the App.

But at the bottom of your screenshot it says Open my Mumsnet settings, if you click on that it should open to a few options, one of them being My Account, if you click on that it gives you a new page with a variety of info - one of which should be Username and underneath it will have Fuller2018, but under that it says your username history, if you click on that it will open a new page with a list of your names - so you can copy your other existing user name/s.

Then go back to the Account details page, paste the other name into the box, scroll down a bit to enter your password and then click on Save Changes and, hey presto, your other user name will be active.

You can also add new usernames on the Account details page by inventing a new username directly into the box, enter password and Save Changes.

Hopefully the App works in a similar fashion?! I'm sure someone App savvy will be along soon to describe it better!!

Thanks for this suggestion - it would certainly make life easier!

PanPanPanPing has explained how things work on the desktop site, (thanks as ever, PPPP!), and that's pretty much how it works on the App too. It is all a bit of a faff, admittedly, so I'm going to ask the Tech team if there are any plans to streamline the process at all.

As you say, a drop-down list would be marvellous. And would have the added bonus of saving MNHQ a load of work when people inadvertently key in a slightly different username, meaning if they're the OP of a thread, none of their subsequent posts get highlighted.

It's a valid point, picking a previous username is made quite complex. We've previously avoided doing it because of privacy concerns some users have had, but I think there's a chance we could include this in future versions.

Would you like it just in the 'my account' place, or in the composer too?

Ooooh! definitely while we are composing messages please. I have two that I want to use, this one as it's my Nightwatch one and my everyday one and it would make life so much easier if I could change it in the Username box up there ^^

In the composer too please, would make it quick and easy!
