I started a thread and really wish I hadn't. It was just getting people's opinions on something I wasn't over concerned about think I just wanted a chat/discussion and felt abit lonely. It's resulted it a lot more talk than I expected and abit of abuse. I just hid it at first but now want to delete it. I don't know how to unhide it and/or delete it. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi OP,
We have got your report and will be replying to it soon. Once we have looked through the thread.

Good luck with that, OP! I started a thread about work last week and even though a friend messaged me in real life and said I’d been outed and it could’ve negatively affected my work situation, MNHQ refused to delete it for me. My thread was getting a lot of hits at the time (which stressed me out even more!). and I know that’s why they wouldn’t. Unfortunately MNHQ are only in it for themselves. (Oh and even though they said they would delete it once the thread had “quietened down” , as I type this it’s still there)

So my advice to anyone posting on here is, be very careful about what you write here because MNHQ won’t delete it unless you’re a troll or PBP.

Hi strawberry,

We're really sorry that you feel this way. To be fair, we did reply to your reports (several times!) offering other solutions - as we always try to do when we're asked to delete a thread - but it seems our mails ended up in your junk folder. We did also delete your thread in the end, but we're sorry that it took longer than you'd hoped.

We do our best to strike the right balance. We're aware how frustrating it is when we zap a thread when a lot of Mumsnetters have taken the time to give advice and support, so we do try to keep deletions to an absolute minimum. But if a thread is causing the OP huge concerns in real life, then we'll take it down. Again, we're very sorry that things took a while to resolve on this occasion.

Please do mail us at [email protected] if you have any further concerns.
