Twice this afternoon I've received an email from MN saying, "Hello X, you have been @ mentioned in a thread" but I'm not X. So my email address is somehow linked to another user? Confused

That doesn't sound great. But, some people don't know how to use the @ properly.

So, you are reek

And someone else might be reeksomothingelse

But if people do the @reek (for you) the email will go to you. But if they do the @reek to another reeksomothingelse, it will still go to you because they haven't put the full and correct NN for the other reekwhoever.

Hope this makes sense?!

It was a completely different username so definitely not a mix up with similar names!

Is it possible it's similar to an old username you don't use any more?

PanPanPanPing · 22/02/2018 18:11

Oh shit. That sounds bad bad bad.

Might be worth emailing MNHQ ASAP?

reek · 22/02/2018 18:29

Hmm I don't remember using a name like it... I've named changed a lot over the years though. But good thinking @pastabest. Could then be a case of what @PanPanPanPing said and part of an old username and they haven't tagged the poster's full username properly. I'll have to go on the desktop site and go through usernames I've had!

Hi reek thanks for letting us know; it does sound like something has gone awry here so we're happy to take a closer look but do drop us a report about it (if you haven't already)

Thanks again for telling us - we'll try to work out what's occurring
