Trollhunters

Would you consider enforcing a short 24 or 48 hr ban for trollhunters, to show that trollhunting really is not acceptable rather than trotting out the usual mantra of telling them to report the thread (as all other rule abiding mners manage to do without needing to be told?) and which trollhunters quite gleefully ignore anyway.

Hi hairycoo,

Thanks for flagging this. We understand that persistent troll hunting can be really annoying. In truth, we treat it the same as any other post(s) that breaks our talk guidelines.

If we find that our guidelines are repeatedly ignored, we absolutely consider a ban until we can get it all cleared up away from the boards.

Does this set your mind at rest a bit? More than happy to take a look at anything if you'd like to report it to us.

I think letting them away with it repeatedly before action is taken just enforces the idea that it is acceptable as long as you dont do it too much. I imagine these posters contribute meaningfully in other threads and so wouldnt advocate a long ban, but a short ban of 24 or 48 hours may inconvenience troll hunters enough to to stop them doing it. Repeated trollhunting would perhaps merit a longer ban.

Hi again hairycoo,

We're usually a bit tougher on persistent troll hunters and would suspend their ability to post for a full week if they've ignored our warnings to pack it in. But perhaps a short, sharp shock of 24/48 hours might be the way forward.

Will put it to the rest of the team! Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I've seen a couple of posters this week who seem to troll hunt on every other thread I've read!

@HotCrossBunFight

I've seen a couple of posters this week who seem to troll hunt on every other thread I've read!

Do you want to drop us a line about them, HotCrossBunFight? It's possible they haven't been reported. We'll happily take a look at any posters who are repeatedly crossing the line.

HotCrossBunFight · 23/02/2018 13:10

It is indeed. I only realised yesterday that it was a reportable offence.
