Deletion message

I followed a thread yesterday (The Browns trying to have their annual holiday) but it's no longer in my watched tab on the app.

When a thread gets deleted, can we at least see the deleted message please? I'd like to know why, especially with how much troll hunting went on.

Was it a troll?
What OP being hounded, so deleted for her safety?
Did Mrs Brown recognise herself on MN whilst waiting outside in the car?
What happens for gods sake?

I fell asleep and missed it...Wink

It's still in my watched tab with the following message:

"Message from MNHQ: Oh, OP. We gave you the benefit of the doubt, and this is how you repay us? With a damp squib ending followed by a bit of an unlikely drip-feed. Hmm.

Guess it's about time to call this one a day - we're drowning under the sheer weight of reports about it.

Move along, folks, nothing to see here."

DailyMailareDicks · 27/01/2018 16:33

Thanks for the update, strange it didn't show on the app for me. Hmm

That reply seems to suggest the thread got zapped due to volume of troll hunters and then a drip feed.

Does this mean that if enough people complain about a thread, it will get deleted. Just to shut them up manage the deluge and prevent more work for HQ?

Which bit was implausible? Or then does this become a TAAT and get zapped too?

It's an annoying deletion message because I want to know what the drip feed was now!!

Can't the threads just be locked down and left as they are - it's not like they're causing any harm

JJPP123 · 27/01/2018 16:35

I wonder why it needed reporting? It was amusing me despite its very likely falsehood

PanPanPanPing · 27/01/2018 17:07

As turophile said, this was the deletion message.

Reading between the lines, I wonder if the OP was someone who'd been previously suspended (or maybe even banned) for a while. Then MN let her back in and then she started that thread.

So they've zapped that thread and banned her for good now?

I agree, why can't they just leave them up? I was watching this thread but I missed the 'damp squib ending' and the 'unlikely drip feed'. Can anyone fill us in please?

TheAntiBoop · 27/01/2018 19:11

I don't know why people get so upset about some of these troll threads that aren't doing any harm - just a silly story. moat people recognise it's not true but join in because sometimes threads take a silly but fun turn

They should save their ire for the ones trying to wind people up/offend/begging

LornaMumsnet · 29/01/2018 09:56

Hi OP,

We removed the thread because we had some concerns about the legitimacy of the poster - we can't share any more than that, but we much prefer to err on the side of caution in cases like this.

Really annoying that you can't see a message from us - sorry about that. Are you using the Android or iPhone app? Would you mind uploading a screenshot of the deletion you see?

DailyMailareDicks · 29/01/2018 10:45

Hi Lorna

There was no deletion message and the thread was missing from my Watching tab in the app. It's iOS and I only noticed it was gone because I wanted to know what happened. Otherwise I probably would have forgotten and not looked for it, if that makes sense.

As PP have suggested, why can't a thread be locked down and stay up? If it's just a made up story that's not hurting anyone, begging for money, and otherwise doesn't breach Talk guidelines? There is a long running thread, make up a lie about the poster above you. That's fantasy, so how is this different?

Thanks
