How to change settings to show thread on one page

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 25/01/2018 19:59

I've had to open a new account due to not being able to name change at all. I can't see anywhere to click the preference to show the entire thread on one page rather than X amount of posts per page.
If anyone could link or tell me where to find it I'd be entirely grateful.

Here you go www.mumsnet.com/Talk?call=Preferences.

Scroll down to Messages Per Page and there's a small drop down menu - click on 1,000 (which is the maximum number of posts there can be on a thread anyway) and click on Save.

PanPanPanPing, thank you! Grin

OP, if there's anything we can do, give us a shout.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but following the instructions above, it seems that the maximum number of messages per page has been reduced to 100, so there's now no way to see all messages of a thread on one page. When did this happen and why, and is there still a way to view 1000 messages on one page?

I would like to know why threads (the ones I look at), are now displaying the original post at the end of the last page and any posts i make pop up all over thread instead of at the end.

Any chance of a response here?

LouMumsnet · 05/03/2020 20:49

Hi there, @Inextremis - sorry for the late response to your question.

Just to explain, we had to make the change because 1000 posts per page was causing loading issues for lots of MNers. Since making the change, we've had fewer issues. We know it's not ideal for all and it's on on our radar going forward.

Hope that makes sense but do let us know if we can help further.

@Lynda07, sorry to hear that you're having issues - it would be really helpful if you're able to grab screenshots when the problem arises, so we can pass this on to our Tech team.

Thanks both. Smile

Thanks for that @LouMumsnet - it's a shame, 'cos I used the 1000 messages a page to stop the situation where you're reading a thread that goes 'poof' before you've finished it. Ah well, I'll live!
