Okay I'm relatively new here so go easy on me.

What on earth does DD DS DC DH stand for.

I get the whole daughter son child husband think but what about the other D.

Plus (and I'm sure it's because I'm getting old) what's with all the other abbreviations and crap grammar. I know, I know it's quicker to type but Confusedit makes my head hurt.

And yes before the "grammar police" and all other police come along I can see the errors in my own post. 😂🙄🙊

D = Dear.
Sometimes the D is left off as the person in question isn't very dear.

HemlockStarglimmer · 25/01/2018 18:58

Somewhere on the site is a glossary that lists the most common abbreviations.

Mrsjellybum · 25/01/2018 19:24

Ahh thanks that makes more sense. Could not work out the D's.

There are lots of abbreviations, tell us which ones you want to know and we can probably help. But yes somewhere there is a glossary of them all.

Furball · 25/01/2018 19:40

all you need to know is here :)

Mrsjellybum · 25/01/2018 20:04

That's helpful thanks.

Have to say JFGI is probably my favourite GrinGrin

but I don't get NN why wouldn't you just put No. (sale amount of letter ).
God I'm getting old. X

Furball thanks so much for enlightening the OP.

Hope it all makes rather more sense now?

Furball · 26/01/2018 07:06

I think it's because technically YY is yes yes, so NN must be no no rather than just no

Mrsjellybum · 26/01/2018 07:15

That would make sense furball. I think it's also because I'm using the MN app so the glossary isn't ion here.

NN can also stand for nickname - although that's not on the list.

I don’t know what threads you are reading but by and large I find that grammar, spelling and use of full sentences and paragraphs on Mumsnet is far superior to the vast majority other internet message boards.

Don’t ever go to Netmums, it will make your eyes bleed!
