Hide Thread link not workng on Active Conversations

SoupDragon · 17/01/2018 23:18

I used to use this all the time to hide busy threads I’m not interested in (like some of the “fan club” or game ones) but it’s not worked for ages now. I thought I’d seen a thread about it before but can’t now find it.

Please can it be fixed? Pretty please with gin on top...

Hey Soup,

As active is a preset list, hiding threads that appear here isn't a feature we offer - it's pretty much inevitable that you'll see stuff of interest to you. Nevertheless, we appreciate where you're coming from here and will have a chat about this in the office. In the meantime, do feel free to send more gin!

SoupDragon · 18/01/2018 11:00

But it is Confused or it always used to be.

And that’s the whole point of hiding - so they don’t appear inActive Convsersations. When you use the hide link in a thread they vanish, it’s just this link that doesn’t work (see screenshot)

I’m talking about Acvtive Conversations, not Trending.

SORRY!

Completely misunderstood what you were asking, my bad. You should be able to hide threads from your own active list, so not entirely sure what's happening here. What device and browser are you using? Is this across all platforms? Does the link just not... register?

Sorry again, please can we have some more gin now?

SoupDragon · 18/01/2018 11:36

It’s OK, it too me a while to realise what you thought I meant :o

I’m on the desktop site on Safari. The link seems to register insofar as the page refreshes but the thread doesn’t disappear.

I’ve not tried it on other browsers.

We've been running some tests our end and it all seems to be working fine for us. What thread(s) are you trying to hide?

SoupDragon · 18/01/2018 14:29

The WAG ones

For the sake of testing, I’ve tried to hide the Beckham thread but it’s still in Active conversations and not on my list of hidden threads. The “hide” link is purple which means I have clicked it.

It’s only a minor irritation though. If I want to hide a thread I can obviously go into the thread and hide it as the “hide” link in a thread works fine.

Good morning!

That's really helpful (I understand now...Wink)

We've asked tech to try and replicate this issue on Safari so please do hang in there and we'll do our best to get it sorted. Gin

GerdaLovesLili · 23/01/2018 08:05

Gah! Suff I"ve hidden is still showing up in the trending box on the top right of the page. It won't go away. Using Firefox 57.0.1 on a Mac Book Pro running Sierra 10.12.6.

I thought it was a glitch a couple of days ago, but it's still happening. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.

SoupDragon · 23/01/2018 08:52

I think they always show in the Trending box whether hidden or not.

OP posts:
GerdaLovesLili · 23/01/2018 09:34

Really? I don't remember them appearing there before? Of course, they might have just conveniently stopped "trending" I guess.

SoupDragon · 23/01/2018 11:05

I know they always used to (because it annoyed me) and I know they do now but I’m not 100% sure there wasn’t a bit in between when they didn’t!

I assumed that was the “active” list Lorna was referring to at first though.

OP posts:
GerdaLovesLili · 23/01/2018 11:14

Hmmm. It's bloody annoying.

SoupDragon · 20/02/2018 08:14

Just wandering past to say this still doesn’t work.

Hi Soup,

Will nudge tech for some updates here!

Clayhead · 20/02/2018 10:59

This hasn't worked for me for ages now - I use Chrome on Windows and on an iMac.

SoupDragon · 20/02/2018 11:11

Yes, I agree. It’s been broken for ages.

OP posts:
LaLaLamp · 21/02/2018 00:20

There used to be a no entry sign thing where you could hide topics/threads. I'm on firefox laptop and can't access this.

Clayhead · 23/02/2018 09:05

This is working for me now!

SoupDragon · 23/02/2018 09:15

It is - and better than before I think as it doesn’t seem to reload the page.

Hurrah!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 23/02/2018 09:16

Thank you :)

I can hide all the game threads etc with ease now.
