I frequently get ads on Mumsnet that suddenly burst into life with very loud talking, cleverly positioned near the bottom of the page so that I can't find it at first. It's very annoying because I have to keep turning my sound off and on. Can these be removed?

Hi Yawning,

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks so much for flagging. Our adops team are currently investigating this. If you can, do let us know what the advert was (and what browser you were using when it happened).

Hi yawning801

Thanks for raising this with us, can you please let me know which ad it was, ideally a screenshot of it so we can look into how it is slipping through.
We do not allow ads with sound on but clearly, some are slipping through.
I will keep an eye out for more information so I can block that ad.
Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure what advert it is (if I see it again I will specify) but it was of a woman talking (specific, I know!). I'm using Google Chrome on an HP laptop.

This morning I have been getting banner ads for a novel, I think, at the top of the page with loud music and no way I can see to silence them. If you could have a look at that one too that would be great - I'll try and screenshot it next time if comes up.

Chillie I just got that exact same banner ad for a novel called "Exile" just now. Can't screenshot on a laptop though!

yep loud music randomly starting.

at least I can turn the sound off though, not like the ones that covered half the screen.

yawning801 Also having the same issue, will try and remember to screenshot but you can in the meantime as well if you press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard, it'll take a copy of the page your on and you can paste into word/paint/photoshop/PDF etc. Obviously easier to do on tablet/phone but just for future reference :-)

Just came up for me again - hopefully I've managed to upload a photo here!

One of them is an Alexa ad.

Ooh thank you Susan, I will try to remember that. I'm slightly glad that I'm not the only one getting it, at least I'm not going insane Grin
