C'mon...MN towers doesn'tt run this place purely out of the goodness of their hearts - they need to make money (although I know they have hearts of gold as well!)...its just lunchables, not gin filled sweeties or anything (mind you...)

morningpaper · 23/04/2007 16:30

well they are made from 100% lunchable

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 16:33

Astrophe, where might I purchace gin filled sweets? They sound rather good.

Twiglett · 23/04/2007 16:37

do you really believe you can tell a commercial venture who they should allow to advertise

I love these threads

we don't really own MN you know, it just feels like we do

Mhamai · 23/04/2007 16:52

Gerofff, it's my Mumsnet I tell ya, feels bottom lip start to wobble, it's coming, it's coming, wait for it...............Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

UtterPigsty · 23/04/2007 16:57

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 17:17

It's on the home page

akaJamiesMum · 23/04/2007 17:19

Not especially bothered to be honest. I don't buy them although I am sure DS would just luurrrve them!

hana · 23/04/2007 17:20

I just don't get this 'look at this advert how dare they' sort of thing
this is a business!
it is a money making business!

am slightly perplexed when someone from mumsnet starts a thread asking if its ok if this was done, or that was done tbh

Twiglett · 23/04/2007 17:54

ahh but hana that's the 'lets make them think they have a say' approach that makes us lurve 'em so much

JustineMumsnet · 23/04/2007 17:57

Well the truth is we ask because a) we don't want to upset or alienate folks b) though we are a business and hoping to be a profitable one, we also genuinely wish to be an "ethical" business and sometimes we are genuinely in two minds about advertisers. A good debate often clarifies both of these issues for us as it has in the past with formula milk.

Currently we don't allow ads for formula milk, Nestle, Macdonalds, plastic surgery types, political parties, porn sites and a few red-top newspapers. If you think there's any we should add to that list let us know who and why.

Best,
MNHQ

JustineMumsnet · 23/04/2007 17:58

Twiglett such cynicism in one so young.

Nbg · 23/04/2007 17:59

I bet you'd get a fortune off Maccy D's though Justine

OP posts:
Twiglett · 23/04/2007 18:03

I'd like to see a ronald mcdonald ad

can you imagine the debates .. and the flounces .. oo we could run books on who would flounce first

it would be fab

do it do it do it

(me? cynical?)

Nbg · 23/04/2007 18:14

Happy Meals have gone up to £2.49.

Its scandalous!

OP posts:
Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 18:28

But I have 3DC's. How will I be able to afford Sunday lunch now?

Nbg · 23/04/2007 18:29

I know
its utter outrage!

OP posts:
Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 23:11

I'm much more annoyed with the peanut kitkat ad, as I think it's aimed at me (personaly) and now I really want one.

NotanOtter · 24/04/2007 10:03

i am sure i have seen The Sun and mcDonalds on here ..have i or was it just a bad dream?

JustineMumsnet · 24/04/2007 11:22

Yes you're right Notanotter - it was the Sun one that led to new policy and the Macdonalds one was an error (essentially our agency fills our spare space with run of site ads and Macdonalds inadvertently crept into the mix - they have the banned list - was an error)

Cheers
MT

lemonaid · 24/04/2007 11:30

I want the gin-filled sweets.

oliveoil · 24/04/2007 11:33

I don't give a monkeys what ads you take

but that man tapping on my screen will be shot soon

Chocolateface · 24/04/2007 12:57

And I find Derren Brown starring at me quite disturbing.

moondog · 24/04/2007 13:02

As long as it's not an ad for formula i don't care.

Chocolateface · 24/04/2007 13:04

There are babies who really need formula. No one need Luchables.
