Is everything working ok at MN Towers?

Only earlier today I got notification of a PM, and seemingly no such PM exists - I don't have a new PM on this account.

The notification got sent to an email address associated with a previous account (no, I'm not a PBP, but have previously detected/reregged), so of course I have no way of knowing if it is a valid notification or not.

Either the notification system is kaput, and it was random spam (please sort this out), or somewhere a poster is trying to PM a previous incarnation, and obviously won't get any replies (again, something needs tinkering with).

Hmm, on closer investigation, this also happened to me at the beginning of last year.

I was assured then that Tech was looking into it/would fix it...

Umm, it's not fixed

Your old account is probably still active.

My old account should very much not be active - first post should say deregged, not detected! - and all the associated emails (newsletter, round up, etc etc) all stopped when I deregged years ago. Deregging should delete all data associated with the account (and many posters over the years have been assured this is the case)

As I said, this happened in February last year (just the once), when I was assured it was a quirky loophole that Tech would fix, and then again today, and that's it.

Perhaps more concerning, the poster I am supposed to have received a PM from doesn’t appear to have ever posted (unless advanced search is also up the creek )
