Trigger warnings

MNHQ, are you being a bit over the top with some trigger warnings?

It's actually insulting to stuff that might trigger people with PTSD/Eating disorders/Depression etc etc

It also makes the word lose any meaning if it's put on titles of threads that people would struggle to deem triggering.

Well there's one now about a photoshoot at a wedding.

I have disorders that can be triggered so they are helpful but become pointless when used for absolutely anything

I did think that wedding one was mislabelled. The (grim as fuck) photo showed a bride simulating a blowjob and you could see the man’s arse so a warning that the thread contained NSFW visual content would be useful but “trigger warning” was probably the wrong label.

WorraLiberty · 13/10/2017 17:24

I agree it was OTT of HQ to add a trigger warning to the fake oral sex/wedding pic thread, just because a couple of posters contacted them.

It's bad enough that some posters add 'Trigger Warning' to a thread title, without so much as a hint towards what it's actually about.

It could be anything from sexual assault to spiders. How is anyone going to know if all they put is 'Trigger Warning'? Confused

Allthelightsgoout · 13/10/2017 17:27

Lots of people these days talk about 'triggers' meaning something they don't like or don't want to see so I agree the meaning has been lost completely.

FannyWisdom · 13/10/2017 17:28

We need a bad taste warning.

Hassled · 13/10/2017 17:30

In fairness opening the wedding photoshoot thread wouldn't have been so good with small children milling about. I think it probably did warrant some sort of a "there's an iffy picture here" warning.

Coconutspongexo · 13/10/2017 17:40

The graphic picture warning they've changed it to is much ether

Coconutspongexo · 13/10/2017 17:41

To be fair though the title of the thread did say sex act

Hi everyone
Arrrrgh- thanks to all for bringing this one to our attention. It appears we've added a trigger warning to a thread today when it should have just been a graphic image warning (or possibly a very specific 'man's arse' klaxon...) We've changed it now- sorry about that. Blush If you think any other threads have been given a TW and shouldn't have been, please report to us and we'll take a look.
