Absolutely hating the tone on AIBU lately. Seems that since the kerfuffle about regular posters concerns not being listened to / acted on and losing some sage long timers, cynicism is at an all time high.
Take the thread about the lady who contacted SS and as she was worried about a 12 year olds allocations about his residential home. Now deleted due to volume of reports.
Previously people would have supported, reported or ignored. Now the thread is full of people picking apart and doubting every bit of her report.
- Social workers wouldn't have said xy or z. Erm people are fallible and often say things they shouldn't.
- A 12 year old Categorically would not have been in a group home. Well, yes common sense would say that. But I've known 7, 9 and 12 year olds in a group home slash hostel with young adult addicts. Shit, but true. And others on the thread also knew of instances of 7 year olds in group home settings. What happened to we believe you? How can Mumsnetters support the most vulnerable in society with this level of distrust or Media interest.
This thread may, or may not, be a troll thread, but how can this forum return to what it once was without its long term posters, quality intervention from MNHQ (who surely can validate ids ips etc), faith in MNHQ to dispel the distrust currently seen on many threads and the media backing off!"?
