Doesn't it happen sometimes if you have written a post in word and then post it?

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 02/04/2007 22:34

I've never written a post in word and then copied it over. I have definately had this problem in teh past - something to do with the preview function I thought at teh time (mine was £ signs). Doesn't seem to be doing anything strange now tho...

Hi, it used to do that thing with the pound signs sometimes but it should be OK now. It's a slightly long story.

On the OP in the linked thread, hmm. The usual culprit is indeed Microsoft Word. When you type in word it converts the regular " and ' signs to curvier prettier ones. The problem then is that they are not guaranteed to exist as characters in the character sets HTML and our servers use. Now, I thought we had a filter in place to handle that, but if that post went in like that today, it must not be working right. We'll take a look.

Cheers,
Tech

TY tech...I was getting paranoid that I was imagining it then....not sure how the OP linked was written, but it was clear to me that they should be ' & " symbols.
