New style ads on Beta app

I posted on another thread about this (the one about the inappropriate ads, apparently now fixed) but thought it deserved its own thread.

The ads on the new beta version of the app are really intrusive. I know you have said you are experimenting with them but I haven't seen any changes since they first arrived a week or so ago.

The problem is the spacing. The ads have too little space around them. Normally there is a small amount of white space after each post which helps make things easy to read. It allows the reader to draw a breath. With the ads inserted between the posts, there is less space before and after the ad than there is before and after a normal post, so everything is very squashed and difficult to read, and looks unbalanced. I work in publishing so I do know what I'm talking about - this is not normal.

Am I the only one who has noticed this? Is it going to be addressed? (Sorry but you did ask for feedback.)

Hey @MountainDweller thanks for the detailed feedback. The new adverts generally do a better job of filling different size spaces on different devices than previous versions of adverts. This, however, means that there is less spacing around these slightly larger adverts.

We can expand the padding though - can I ask what device you're using?

Hello Tim, thanks for responding. I'm on an iPad.

I did notice that the problem seems worse on the ads that have a black box background, which fits with what you said about the ads expanding to fill the space. I guess the white-background ads fill the space too but it's less obvious.

The ads at the end of the thread are much better as there seems to be a decent space before them.
