Hide Thread on Active

Doesn't work - when I click 'hide thread' it disappears but immediately reappears next time I look at Active Convos. Probably related to all the TIO / TIW problems (have these too)?

Opera, Windows 10.

It's doing this for me too

(desktop site, iPad, safari)

I noticed it this morning, as I hid stickied threads at the top of Active for the umpteenth time. And they keep reappearing. And no matter how often they reappear, I still don't have a DC age 7-11 and that thread is never going to be relevant to me.

Hi both,

Are you trying to hide pinned threads?

We can't seem to replicate an issue hiding normal threads!

What devices/browsers are you using?

ipad safari desktop.
Not working for me either.

RatSandmIce · 16/08/2017 12:22

Not pinned threads, Lorna - just normal ones.

Desktop site, Windows 10, Opera.

Problem seems to be on desktop only: it's working fine on the mobile site on my phone.

Seeline · 16/08/2017 13:09

Same for me - desktop, Windows 10, Edge
Ordinary threads

AuntieStella · 17/08/2017 07:23

Yes, it is pinned threads.

It used to be possible to remove them. Now it is not.

And as I said, when they concern a call for MNers with children a different age to mine, they are just irritating. Do you want sponsored threads associated with irritation?

Also, when looking for this on TIO I had to click to get more than 20 threads and cannot find an option to set to the 50 I am used to. Introducing a need for more keystrokes is a backwards step from the user's POV. Can this be put back to displaying the mpnimber we want.

Also (gosh what a list) you can no longer see all unanswered threads. Only 20 expandable to 50, when previously it was all those in the past 3 days ot so. And they are organised by date now, not topic. That is a retrograde step from the user's POV too. Because if your thread is not seen in active, or whilst it's the '50 most recent unanswered threads' then it's much more likely to be missed.

AuntieStella · 17/08/2017 10:18

And I've just noticed it's happening on all threads (as I've just been trying to hide one about the Daily Mail and it won't go away)

AuntieStella · 17/08/2017 15:11

Any progress? Because it's still happening both for pinned and other threads in active.

Because if you're not going to move Christmas threads to the Christmas topic, and we can't hide the dratted things, it's going to get really annoying. And that's just one example - lots of people hide threads for all sorts of reasons.

Taking away functionality from users is always going to be unpopular.

And if hiding threads is in the way out, please would you tell us, and also tell us the policy towards moving threads in to the topics (assuming topics can still be hidden)

AuntieStella · 18/08/2017 10:18

Still doing it.

TheGreaterGoodTheGreaterGood · 18/08/2017 10:21

Same here - Firefox, Windows 10.

Not just pinned threads - 'normal' threads too

CancellyMcChequeface · 18/08/2017 12:34

I'm having this problem too, with all threads. Firefox, Windows 7.

Seeline · 20/08/2017 15:22

My hidden threads are still reappearing......

JigglyTuff · 20/08/2017 18:29

It's happening to me too - basically there is now no ability to hide threads on Active.

There are lots of things I really don't want to see
