I'd like to chat about the convenience of your deletion policy to rewrite history MNHQ

Convenient deletions so that your own posts go too that's becoming common practise too. After NYE you probably mised not to do that or edit retrospectively as you agreed it was unprofessional.

Yet again we are seeing cases where one member of HQ states something then another comes and contradicts it. Are you not a little embarrassed about how incompetent you look of late?

Hopefully your advertisers aren't looking to hard at the site at present? Or is that why you don't want them to see you struggling?

Even your deletion messages have no resemblance to the context of the thread? I think the majority of incorrect speculation falls at HQs feet on the whole. Rather than site users.

Watching with interest.

I have used the word gaslighting.

CronnyRash · 07/08/2017 15:09

I think HQ follow the P.H.D method of dealing with problems:

Pretend it didn't happen
Hope it dies away quickly
Don't learn from people's complaints and continue in a away which is hurting your own site.

HoneyDragon · 07/08/2017 15:10

The conversation was not well addressed it seems churlish to blame posters when a thread that MNHQ are on is deleted. I think gaslighting is a good term.

Certainly in her next interview Justine won't be able to laud her demographic of intelligent adults and free conversation. She'll have to promote Mumsnet as a site where we take the credit for anything positive and shutdown all other conversation.

All I want them to say is the same as they said about the noticeboard thing.

We said the wrong thing it was a mistake and we won't do it again.

But it needs to start with yes we did say the wrong thing.

They are re writing history and treating us like we are stupid. And can't remember what was said.

Couldiseriouslybepregnant · 07/08/2017 15:19

I honestly don't think that they will admit anything

They don't believe us.

It's shocking.

This is not our fault.

Polter · 07/08/2017 15:21

It's just ridiculous that troll hunters (which seems to mean anyone who raises suspicions about a poster, whether they are right or not) are treated more punitively that the actual trolls and goady fuckers themselves.

It's all a bit crap really.

CronnyRash · 07/08/2017 15:26

victim blaming has been going on for ages, it's mostly what the disablist threads have been about, "it's your fault You people shoudl be educating them."

Now though something has happened which has meant that other people have noticed how badly things are done behind the scenes.

Apologies - didn't mean to name names. Teething baby sleep deprivation. In general, general terms - you report and nobody listens. You report again, you get no reply. And then something bad happens and actually you do deal it's a bit your fault for not trying harder to warn people.

GavelRavel · 07/08/2017 16:20

I do wonder though whether certain hypothetical trolls are unusually sophisticated MN/woman haters (lots of them about) who have carefully crafted their approach to highlight the flaws of MN modding and get us all pissed off with them . I hope we're not playing into their hands.

catiinboots · 07/08/2017 16:23

Fenella can you please post that link for the Vanity Fair article that you posted earlier. I didn't get to read it. Thanks

Mamagin · 07/08/2017 16:25

Have you always removed deleted threads from 'threads I'm on', or is that new?

HastingsLikeTheBattle · 07/08/2017 16:28

Completely agree.

drinkswineoutofamug · 07/08/2017 16:31

Has there a statement been put out yet?
Just got up from a night shift and missed another day of delete, delete, delete

MarshaBrady · 07/08/2017 16:33

If they admitted we were wrong to say that it would all go away

Someone's posted a MNHQ statement to Reddit, but I don't know where it's from - can't see anything on here except deleted threads.

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 07/08/2017 17:01

It's off a now deleted thread.

Personally it's a good start. But they need to acknowledge that they did say other things that were above and beyond what should have been said.

KatherinaMinola · 07/08/2017 17:04

It's off a now deleted thread.

Ridiculous. I think they need to sticky it, or something like it, somewhere. If you have a three-day break from MN or you've been on holiday (quite likely now) you'll have no idea what's gone on. And you might have been scammed.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 07/08/2017 17:06

I don't understand this at all. Previously when they've obviously dropped the ball they apologise and take positive steps. The radio silence is odd. I wouldn't expect anything over the weekend but I was expecting to see something official today.

When Dizzymare and Mamazon all kicked off they were very upfront about it all.

What's gone wrong? Are the big cheeses on holiday?
