Can MNHQ confirm current policy on deleting threads please. It used to be that threads were only deleted if found to be troll threads or PBP threads. The other acceptable reason was if someone had compromised their anonymity.

However, these days it seems that posters can just ask for their thread to be deleted and HQ will oblige.

Latest deletion message as an example:

Message from MNHQ: Hi all,

The Op mailed in and has since posted to say:
'Sorry folks but I've asked for this thread to be deleted. I posted while pissed & wanting to party on. I now no I was v v unreasonable. Sorry.'

And so we have zapped this thread for her, aren't we nice?

Yes they can ask and MN usually delete these days. Someone asked the same question on SS a while back and that's what they said.

Hi there Fairenuff,

Thanks so much for flagging.

If the OP of a thread really, really wants it gone, we'll nip it in the bud.

This isn't to say we don't try and push back! We do, promise! Grin but if it isn't making parents lives easier or is causing the OP stress, we do consider taking it down.

Hope this clears things up.

i once had to remove mine under another name - someone in rl saw my thread and it led to all manner of problems.

as a consequence im now careful about what i post and i name change regularly.
sometimes threads really do affect peoples lives and they need to go.

Thank for your response Lorna.

Tbh it doesn't really clear it up. Still seems quite ambiguous to me.

It looks like anyone can start a thread and if it doesn't go their way, they can get it deleted.

Ok fine, if that's your new policy. It's very different to how it used to be.
