I was happily perusing the thread on Trump, and finding it mighty interestin!, when suddenly, BOOM!! it's gone. I wonder if someone is unhappy at the level of disrespect shown to the Great Man?
Woooooo....

OP posts:
WatcherOfTheNight · 12/07/2017 07:10

I've also been having issues for the last few hours.

Clickncollect · 12/07/2017 07:15

I couldn't get into mumsnet on my iPhone between 5.30 and 7 today.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 12/07/2017 07:19

.

WheresTheEvidence · 12/07/2017 07:19

Couldn't get on between 6 and 7 on my Samsung

Disillusionedone · 12/07/2017 07:20

Looked a bit like a poor hacking job

IceLollyInThePaddlingPool · 12/07/2017 07:21

Outrageous. What am I supposed to do at 5.30? Angry

Gwencooper81 · 12/07/2017 07:23

My morning loo visit wasn't half as enjoyable without mumsnet this morning.
Facebook was also not working for me.

user1498911470 · 12/07/2017 07:25

It worked here when I was awake all night on the odd occasion that I tried.

e1y1 · 12/07/2017 07:27

According to isitdownrightnow.com. It was just having maintenance.

Ifailed · 12/07/2017 07:37

A site like MN is provided by lots of different computers, all doing different things to provide content to 1000s of users simultaneously. There will be times when some of these computers will need software upgrades, new bits of hardware etc and have to be taken out of action. The usual time to do such work is when the number of on-line users is low, typically in the early morning. When this happens, most websites will try and keep some sort of service running, usually to a restricted amount of users, but that doesn't mean you can guarantee that you'll always get on.
It doesn't pay to advertise when such work is going on, as you can be particularly vulnerable to a cyber attack like denial of service.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 12/07/2017 07:39

OP,

Well, I was mid-posting on the thread about interchangeable dinner/ sex phrases when Mumsnet disappeared on me for 30 minutes...

Make of that what you will! Grin

SonicBoomBoom · 12/07/2017 07:40

Couldn't get on either for the last few hours, checked twitter but nothing there.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 12/07/2017 07:41

Ifailed,

That makes sense. Thanks for clear explanation.

DoctorTwo · 12/07/2017 07:44

Many websites are deliberately running slowly today to draw attention to net neutrality, something that is under threat in the USA. Some of the telecommunications corporations want to provide more bandwidth to those websites willing to pay for it and strangle the speed of those who don't, thus creating an unequal internet.

GeekyWombat · 12/07/2017 07:45

It was offline for me briefly yesterday morning around the same time. Server upgrades?

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 12/07/2017 07:53

DoctorTwo,

That's very interesting.

I'm woefully tech-ignorant, and am learning a lot on here. Thanks.

Katz · 12/07/2017 08:09

Something odd has happen to the icons on the mobile site. Can't post a picture but the active link is a broken heart watching is s torch search is a kiss

Katz · 12/07/2017 08:10

Hopefully this will work

Has Mumsnet been hacked?
SandyDenny · 12/07/2017 08:13

I thought my phone was playing up around 6.30, all fine now

Jinglebells99 · 12/07/2017 08:43

My icons are same as usual Katz, no broken hearts or kisses here! But I couldn't get on around 6 am this morning, made me realise how much I rely on browsing in here :/

Katz · 12/07/2017 08:56

Back to normal now

orlantina · 12/07/2017 09:56

A site like MN is provided by lots of different computers

Not just 1 over worked server Grin

Weebo · 12/07/2017 10:09

Orlantina :o

I thought MN was powered by an ageing but determined hamster on a wheel named Floyd.

bubblesagain · 12/07/2017 10:36

The broken heart and other icons is nothing to worry about, when the font they use for the standard icons isn't delivered, they fall back on them default ones.

LornaMumsnet · 12/07/2017 10:37

Hi folks,

Our hamster has had a difficult morning! Seems he got off of the wheel and decided to have a gin fuelled break.

We've replaced the gin with a nice Brew and all seems well.

Really sorry for the inconvenience caused. Tech has identified the issue and so we don't have any further concerns about this, so nothing to worry about.

Weebo, I thought the hamster's name was Tod...
