Why did MN start sending emails saying you have been mentioned in a post and how can I stop them please?

a few months ago; you can stop the tagging by going to your account and customising, i.e.: unticking the relevant box

Hi, JaneJeffer!

If you go to your preferences and scroll down, you'll see a box that says 'Notify me when others mention me in a thread' with a ticked box next to it. Just untick this and click save.
