Hello there!

We would like to cordially invite you all to join us this coming Sunday, June 18, for a Great Get Together - in memory of the late Jo Cox MP, and in support of her family's organisation, More In Common, which aims to get us all to celebrate the things that unite us.

So whether you're reasonable or unreasonable, whether you have or have not Googled penguin bollards, and whether or not you think the OP should have cashed the cheque, we'd love to see you all here on Sunday around midday.

There will be PRIZES, chatting and amusing gifs (courtesy of AliceDMumsnet's 'solid gold gifs' folder). Please bring your best children's jokes, pictures of any kittens who have recently adopted you, and heartwarming stories of love and friendship across the divide (Netmums).

BYO booze. Folk dancing will not be tolerated in the shallow end.

(If you'd rather go to an event near you and meet other people face-to-face, check out the Great Get Together's listings of thousands of events across the UK here.)

Love
MNHQ

HANG ON I've just realised yesitsmeidontcare claims to be walking her cat and I think I need to know more

fruitbats yes, my cat is 22 - well we think she is, she was a rescue so it's all a bit of an estimate. I've definitely had her for 20 years though. DS1 says the oldest cat on record was 40-something, although frankly DS1 talks a lot of nonsense sometimes

here she is complaining about the heat while wearing a fur coat

Here's my very dim dog, Kasper, looking for his stick (which went on the fire yesterday).

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:30

@paxillin

Did we have throw-a-sponge yet? Do we use teacher or MNHQ "volunteers"?

I'm... allergic... to water?

AIBU in thinking of just giving them back?

AdaColeman · 18/06/2017 14:39

No, fruitbats they will be lovely to give to a teacher at the end of term.

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 14:39

Sorry fruitbats ....am operating a strictly no returns policy! Anyone you despise know that you can gift them at Christmas??

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:40

WINNERS' CORNER

For her 'three things about the UK' entry: MrsHathaway who listed 'Green spaces
Orderly queues
Self-deprecation'

Which was in itself nice and orderly.

NEW COMPETITION! One for those with craft-orientated children (nieces/nephews/DGCs/charges etc): for a craft kit and a colour-in tablecloth...

What’s your favourite place in the UK, or your favourite journey within the UK?

fruitbats · 18/06/2017 14:50

froomeonthebroom · 18/06/2017 14:51

Sorry I'm so late! Got distracted water bombing the dcs.

Can I enter best place in the UK? My vote goes to exmouth (specifically staying the house we rent at Easter). It's a lovely friendly town with a great beach and LOADS of pubs. What more could you want? Gin

paxillin · 18/06/2017 14:51

You could suck on one of the Pimms sponges sassy and I prepared, puzzled.

AdaColeman · 18/06/2017 14:52
