Pics in PM?

Is it possible to send a pic in a PM?

No, it isn't.

Being able to do that opens up all sorts of nasty possibilities for trolls.

MyOtherProfile · 13/06/2017 21:27

Oh! I don't really understand that!

Because whoever you want to share photos with privately on a PM might not be who they appear to be on open threads.

For example, they might say that they're a mother of two children - when in reality they're nothing of the sort. What if you attach a photo of your child to someone? What if that someone is really dodgy?

What if you ask for a photo of something innocuous from someone who appears to be a 'regular person' and you end up receiving a photo of something really dodgy?

MyOtherProfile · 16/06/2017 06:18

Yes I can see that. I just wanted to share a picture of my pantry without outing myself!

Hey MyOtherProfile,

Thanks for chipping in, Fru!

We'll pass this thread over to our tech team so that they can see your feedback.

FruBayerischOla, surely as adults we should be able to make those decisions?

And if anyone receives a dodgy pic, they only have to report and block sender.

FruBayerischOla · 18/06/2017 15:43

I totally agree with you, Worra. It would be nice if we could PM personal photos to each other.

But I suspect that, maybe, the original decision made by MNHQ was based on the potential for dodgyness?

Oldgranny · 18/06/2017 16:27

Well, Soop often posts pics !

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2017 16:31

I don't know. I just assumed no-one had really asked for that feature. It wasn't that long ago that you couldn't even post pics on a thread.

But maybe I'm wrong.

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 18/06/2017 16:36

You know that troll who posts violent images, When HQ uped theamount of photos you could post a day it made what he did much harder for Nightwatch to deal with.

If he can then send out PM's with horrific images it would be even worse.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2017 16:43

That's just the internet though isn't it?

I'm sure HQ would add a feature so that those who don't want to be sent images, can choose not to.

FruBayerischOla · 18/06/2017 18:17

Oldgranny, but Soop can't PM photos to you - or are you referring to her posting photos on threads?

That's the difference.

Here are two weather related photos - both harmless. And if I PMd them to someone, also equally harmless!

I think there might have been a thread about this a few years ago now, Worra. But maybe I'm wrong.
