For all of us trying to buy/sell property so we can have a good old moan if it is not going well! (like mine!) TIA

yes ill join you

BettySpaghetti · 19/03/2007 14:20

Could it be combined with one that also covers DIY/house renovation/building work etc as these are topics that crop up a lot. It could be called "House and Home" or something similar.

nailpolish · 19/03/2007 14:21

i have applied online to be on location location location

i have a fussy wishlist that only kirstie and phil could cope wiht

KathyMCMLXXII · 19/03/2007 14:22

Good idea.

It could be 'property'/'housing' rather than just buying and selling, and then it would soak up all the issues people have about rentals too.

It wouldn't just be for moaning - you get quite a lot of questions about estate agents, mortgages, landlords etc.

Fimbo · 19/03/2007 14:31

I'm glad you like my idea - I thought I would be a lone voice. I agree with the other comments about the naming of it!

NP-did you sell? We had a viewer today, I could just tell he was round for a nosey, not really any intention of buying. I couldn't wait to get rid of him.

its too early for that fimbo

we ahve had 6 viewers in the past week but none of them have sold thier houses (i asked!) so they cant really buy until they sell

its like stalemate

nailpolish · 19/03/2007 14:38

and remember here you get a few ntoes of interest, set a closing date and its the highest bid who wins

Fimbo · 19/03/2007 14:40

Do they all go to sealed bids though? My last Scottish house, I just offered and got it.

most people dont make an offer til you set a closing date

you dont have to accept the highest offer on the closing date if you dotn want to

i fyou really really want the house and you are in a postion to buy you can make an offer

how are you getting on fimbo

Fimbo · 19/03/2007 14:48

Ah it's all coming back to me now.

I hate hate hate the system down here. At least in TSPC/ESPC most of the properties for sale are listed there. Much easier doing the estate agency bit through a solicitor as well.

Considering getting a rent to buy mortgage now so as we don't lose the house of our dreams! Seeing a financial advisor on Thursday so we will see. The rent would be considerably higher than our current mortgage. Also my mum and dad are moving down here and would like to buy our house but can't do so at the moment, so we could rent it out, move and then sell to my mum and dad eventually!

Phew that was like War and Peace!

omg fimbo thats a bit complicated!

is your dad retired then?my dad retires next month and he is having his leaving do at deacon brodies round the corner from meadowside

dc thomson will NEVER change

Fimbo · 19/03/2007 14:54

Yes my dad is retired. He never liked it when everything went computerised. He worked there from when he as 14, without a day's illness then developed everything under the sun when all the changes happened. He was eventually pensioned off at 59, but used to write Sunday league football stuff and does the odd bit of bowls writing for them. He is 73 now.

that would be really nice fimbo if your parents lived near you

you may not be as homesick

Fimbo · 19/03/2007 14:58

It would be brilliant (not sure dh agrees), because they are not old for their age, they are still up to baby sitting etc. Also I could look after them when the get really old, rather than worry about them up there on their own.
