MNHQ please would you consider putting a sticky thread at the top of 'Active' which explains (on all devices)
How to bookmark so you're taken back to the last post you read.
How to highlight the OP's posts.
How to add to Watched.

long threads are filling up with posters who don't know how to do it then just putting a full stop or 'placemarking' to mark their place.
The slow loading is bad enough but when a third of posters aren't actually contributing, just typing dots is even more frustrating and tedious to read.

Bookmarking doesn't work on all versions of MN and you don't need to have sticky threads stuck.

They are placemarking so they get the deletion message half the time.

Oh fuck and I meant to put 'gin for the first . ' and forgot.
What versions doesn't it work on Soup?
Why don't you need sticky threads stuck? Plenty of posters say they didn't know how to highlight or mark their place.

It works on the App/desktop site/mobile site using an iPad & iPhone.
Maybe android app doesn't bookmark?

Because I'm using the MN Classic option.

It works on Android. You don't get the deletion message if you just watch the thread. That's if you think it's a dodgey thread.

I turned "stick sticky threads" off when there got to be too many. It was tedious as they were rarely anything I was interested in at all.

You can't bookmark in classics. i miss classic.

Ok. I shall concede. I am groggy, crodgy and bad tempered as I've put my back out and felt like a rant.
Think I must have joined after MN classics was an option.
But if you can bookmark and you're not doing it because of the anticipated deletion message, then........... please do!

Perhaps there's no alternative to placemarking, but it wouldn't be impossible that posters at least try and say something helpful. The most irritating thing is how funny many people think they are being when doing it.

It makes me cringe when posters just put a full stop on a sensitive thread.

All my android app will do is the basics I think. Can't sticky post etc
