Hi all, I'm really new to MN (only registered a couple of days ago) and am loving the forum. I feel like there's a few in-jokes and things that everyone speaks about that it will take me a while to pick up! For example, so far I've learned if you talk about parking spaces you have to include a diagram! And erm.. is there something about the biscuit emoji?... Is there anything else that you veteran MNetters can pass on so I can feel like part of the gang? Also....cube of poo?! (Not read that yet but it seems to be a classic thread)

Search for penis beaker and doing the rest. You won't be disappointed!

tootles off to read the t rex thread

BillywigSting · 04/04/2017 20:46

*doing t rex!

Patriciathestripper1 · 04/04/2017 20:49

Read elderly Korean lady in my garden

Mamabamadingdong · 04/04/2017 20:52

[making notes] penis beaker, Korean lady... ok great thanks, will read these. I finished work at 11pm last night and stayed up until nearly 1am laughing until crying at the classics thread about various people crapping themselves and having period accidents!

River of sweet corn, lemon drizzle cake......

Mamabamadingdong · 04/04/2017 20:54

Bah! My app won't find either of these things when I search. Booooo!

Averylongtimeago river of sweet corn I've not read that one either but can only imagine what it's about! Confused

I see people referring to cancel the check on quite a few threads too...

Not sure what that one is about.

Tweedledee3Tweedledum · 05/04/2017 08:56

*cheque

yohlow · 05/04/2017 09:01

Biscuitrefers to a thread interviewing Gordon Brown. He refused to answer questions asking about his favourite biscuit. We use it now when we think somebody is taking the piss / trolling / being obnoxious.

Cancel the cheque was a thread where the OP had given a cheque as a wedding gift and then been asked by the bride for more money. Although OP clarified that the original cheque had been cashed, hundreds of posters piled on without reading the thread and suggested she should cancel it.

You have to read the Mexican house thieves thread but no idea how you find it as it wasn't called that in the title. Hope someone can link it for you!

Here is Mexican house thief

Hello! Cake

Mumsnetters are pretty good bloody brilliant at creating classic threads!

We do hope you enjoy reading them.

For background, here is when the biscuit emoji was originally requested!

Mamabamadingdong · 05/04/2017 20:09

Thanks so much ladies!! This is great! I'm starting to know what more of it means now!

Mamabamadingdong · 06/04/2017 07:54

Am now up to date on Mexican house thief and have spent ages reading the thread! I couldn't turn away from the cheeky stories. My god, it makes me so angry!! 😆

You also need to read the classics thread about DH eating a fat ball. I was weeping with laughter trying not to wake my baby asleep on me for that one.

TiggyD · 06/04/2017 11:41

Thanks so much ladies!!

Some of the posters here are men. I saw one once.

Mamabamadingdong · 06/04/2017 12:40

Captain fat ball?! Now I'm intrigued and have to find that one. I just burnt the toast for ds's beans on toast for lunch and the smoke alarm is going off (waking up DH in bed as he's on nights). Oops, Mumsnet is very distracting!!
And as for Men being in here, how very dare they. Isn't there a Dadsnet they can go on? Wink

OP posts:
TiggyD · 06/04/2017 14:30

Dadsnet is a particularly vibrant and fast moving topic within Mumsnet. Check it out sometime.

Another thing to remember on here: "Going to visit CentreParks" is a euphemism for bumsex.

LemonsAndLollies · 06/04/2017 14:38

Also Lemon Drizzle Cunt (and the AMAZING second thread), and the poster whose colleague had binned her sushi. Courgettes played a significant part in the discussion Grin

hazeyjane · 06/04/2017 14:44

"Going to visit CentreParks" is a euphemism for bumsex

How have I managed to be here for 11 years and not known this, is it because I'm not a big fan of CentreParks?? (......either CentreParks)

Mind you usually when there is a classic thread going on I am engrossed in a thread about the best type of socks to wear camping. I can honestly say, I don't think I've read a single classic thread on mumsnet!

Mamabamadingdong · 06/04/2017 15:24

There's a lot of reading to do - feels like my English degree again! (This reading is more enjoyable though) Thanks for the Center parcs heads up (so to speak). Blimey

"Some of the posters here are men. I saw one once."

Surely not, TiggyD?! You must be jesting? Wink

ThisNight · 06/04/2017 15:48

My initiation onto MN was Tidydancer's epic 'save the date card received then not actually invited to the wedding, but still expected to decorate the venue'. I seem to recall it went on for four threads - many hours of my life I will not get back Grin.
