Those wrap-around ads - is it just me?

Over the last few days, when I go to the active convos page, and one of those large over the top and down the sides ad loads, the whole list of convos disappears and I'm just left with the headings etc. It's really annoying! They all reappear if I re-load the page as long as it is just an ordinary ad.

I'm on a pc using Microsoft edge and Windows 10 unfortunately

I use Windows 10 with Firefox Mozilla (which uses google as a search engine). I've got ad-block and thankfully don't get any stupid adverts.

Seeline · 24/03/2017 09:10

I don't really want to be forced to install an ad blocker, when its only MN one site that ever has a problem with them.

Hey, Seeline!

Thanks so much for this. We're flagging it to our adops team now.

In the meantime, could we possibly ask you to upload a screenshot when it happens?

I'll try - just discovered it happens with TIO too!!

Same here Seeline - I'm using Firefox Mozilla. And like you, I don't want to have to install an ad blocker.
Needless to say, I can't get it to do do it right now so I can post a screenshot.

AngieMumsnet · 24/03/2017 17:38

Hi, sorry it's taken me ages to acknowledge your complaints about these ads, looking into it right now but if anyone can grab a screenshot, that would be great.

Seeline · 24/03/2017 17:53

Not very good at technology - so there may be a screen shot......

Same here. using Chrome on a laptop with windows 10.
Either adverts or conversations, cured by refresh.

Pestilentialone · 24/03/2017 19:00

Same but different

Those wrap-around ads - is it just me?
FlissMumsnet · 24/03/2017 19:37

Thanks for the screenshots everyone, we'll get back to you as soon as possible and try to get this sorted for you.

AngieMumsnet · 24/03/2017 20:02

Thank you, that helps, I'm investigating

Mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 28/03/2017 16:59

Exactly the same for me too. I am using Edge on windows 10. It happens when I open a thread (not all threads, not specially long, or short....just random ones...). SURE it is to do with the blasted ads! I haven't screenshotted but it is just the same as the ones above.

FaFoutis · 28/03/2017 17:01

Same for me too. Windows 10 edge.

MarklahMarklah · 28/03/2017 18:32

Still randomly happening for me.

My whole MN page just got replaced by a giant advert which started playing a video.

Still happening for me too. Yesterday it actually happened on a thread, rather than lists of threads such as active convos and TIO. Very annoying

I'm getting exactly the same. Using Safari on a Mac.

meditrina · 29/03/2017 07:51

Also, site not working for Apple/Safari users. Whole other thread about that. Are the issues connected?

LornaMumsnet · 29/03/2017 09:56

Hello!

Thanks for the reports.

We're looking into this now.

MamehaSan · 29/03/2017 18:57

Yup, still happening for me too, using chrome on a tablet (the full site?)

Mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 30/03/2017 10:12

STILL happening...still edge and windows 10. Happens randomly - active convos, some short threads, some large....

LornaMumsnet · 30/03/2017 10:27

Hello!

Could we ask for some screenshots of the issue?

Tech is still looking into this.

egosumquisum1 · 30/03/2017 10:31

It just happens. The ads are not always there. Then they suddenly appear around the margins as if they're in the back layer of the webpage. This affects the body where the actual posts are.

It seems the wrap around ads affect the loading of the posts.

Next time, would you like a copy of the page source?

Seeline · 30/03/2017 10:34

It's exactly as the screen shots above.....
