Could someone please tell me how to turn off email notifications for when someone has commented on a thread please?

You need to go into Preferences. I don't know what device you're using - or whether you're using the desktop site, mobile site or the App - but on the desktop site where it says Talk up there ^, there's a circle with a downward facing arrow next to it, click in the circle and you get a small drop-down menu, click on Preferences and you'll get this page www.mumsnet.com/Talk?call=Preferences, scroll down and there are options to turn off two types of email notification - uncheck whichever one (or both) and save changes.
