This would have to be a tech question I'm afraid and I think he's either locked in the shed or on his way to the States, but I'm sure he'll give you some pointers when he's around.

You can get to the states in Tech's shed....??? Thats a helluva shed

Tech · 04/03/2007 22:09

I have a shed in both locations luckily.

To answer the question, we wrote the talk board ourselves, so it's not really usable elsewhere.

A friend of mine runs a very busy bulletin board using vBulletin and has good things to say about it. If I were starting from scratch I'd take a look at that.

Regards,
Tech

This reminds me of the Pie incident

Tech, I once came across a DIY board that used exactly MN's format (the blue bars with the posting details etc) - was really weird, like Twilight Zone - MN but talking about 2x4s (instead of 4x4s ) and U bends and hammers and stuff.

So is the layout that you use a commercial one that you have adapted?

NappiesGalore · 05/03/2007 15:33

ah, dp thought you might have done it yourselves...

thanks for the tip, will direct him there (he sort of has one going but says the format is driving him potty - or words to that effect)

JanH - thats interesting... both the answer to your question ..., and, unrelated really, the name of that DIY board would be quite useful if you dont mind?

NG, I don't know the name/address, I never found it again - I came across it by accident searching for a specific DIY-ish thing once, but when I went looking for it later I couldn't find it (bit like Narnia then )

NappiesGalore · 06/03/2007 00:02

lol. oh well, thanks anyway. (fwiw - i'm willing to bet that im worse at internet searching than you)

icod, I take it you mean the widowed wood pigeon? It's fine. still on its own poor lamb. It spends most of its time in the tree where their nest used to be, but it comes and sits on the railings outside my back bedroom window a lot as well.

JanH, when we first started we used a bulletin board called discus - site - so we adapted the layout we had on that when we introduced our own. So NG, you dp might want to take a look at that one too.
