Please MNHQ will you credit us with some intelligence?

Why do you have to edit thread titles to insert this asinine descriptor? If people can't work out that a thread is lighthearted for themselves, then they are truly lacking in intelligence.

Please don't dumb down this site any further

I needed to use lighthearted in a thread when I was joking about my baby fucking with me purposely...

Same reason people get threads deleted 'due to sharing to much' just because they don't like the answers.

I totally accept some level of triggers can occur accidentally but come on one look at the dh thread tells you it's lighthearted (unless you actually believe the chickend livers to be fatal and then perhaps help of a professional kind should be sought)

Surely if you're that easily triggered mn perhaps isn't the best place to be ?

It's a fact of life that virtually every post is going to offend someone somewhere.

The only way to ensure that nobody takes offence on MN Talk would be to shut it down completely! Can you imagine the riots and civil unrest that would ensue if that were to happen?! Grin

It is getting a bit ridiculous now.

A couple of months ago, someone started a thread (clearly titled) for people to post about how nice their DHs/DPs are. She just wanted some balance, because generally MNetters only tend to post about them when they've been causing problems.

At least 3 people said the title should have had a trigger warning, so as not to upset those whose DHs/DPs are not very nice Confused

Thankfully it didn't happen though.

I don't consider myself to be of high intellect, I'm of average intelligence. It really does not take a fucking degree in How To Have a Sense of Humour, to work out a light hearted thread.

Also, occasionally a thread can be so bizarre you actually think "is this a joke..." and part of the fun is working it out before the OP clarifies.

I see "Light hearted" and move along. I'm not interested if it has to be pointed out to the terminally dense.

I think that there are people who just aren't happy unless they can find something to be offended about. They are the people who need to be reminded that something is meant to be humorous, tongue in cheek etc. They often seem incapable of working it out for themselves, though they may just have had a sense of humour bypass.

It's symptomatic of the "what about ME" chewy faced sanctimonious culture. They like to pretend its about other peoples feelings but really it's about drawing attention to them and how much better than everyone else they are. I mean that generally rather than about any particular post. I always think of Lotso from Toy Story wearing Hyacinth Buckets clothing. Confused

This is an example of a really funny thread but one where the title could have ended up with someone complaining that it should say 'lighthearted'
