The Women's prize for fiction needs a new sponsor. How about it Mumsnet?

Just heard on the news that Baileys are withdrawing their sponsorship of the women's prize for fiction. They are looking for a new sponsor.

I'd love to see Mumsnet taking this on. How about it Justine?

Isn't the prize alone £30k? Never mind all the other costs.

I think that will be prohibitively expensive for Mumsnet.

If MN is going to make £30k+ charitable donations in a single year I really think there are higher priorities which are closer to MN's mission statement.

What's your reasoning for thinking it's a good match for MN, OP?

It's a match for Mumsnet because it celebrates women and women's fiction. That's a profile that has the potential to increase revenue. Revenue MN could use to continue to campaign for other women's issues.

But MN is about supporting parents, not female authors.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's an important prize. I thought Baileys was an awful choice of sponsor too ...
