I just got one of these emails. It was addressed to one of my very old usernames and the thread was one I haven't posted on. On checking the thread, the username is similar to my old one but spelled differently.

Just checked my email and I did indeed find one waiting for me to tell me that I had been mentioned

Thank you avirgin, that sheds some light on it. So, a person with a user name oh so similar to an old one of mine posted. Someone tagged her but left out one letter thus tagging my old name instead. Mystery solved!
