Beating the daily mail and others?

There must be a way of putting some kind of comment or legal disclaimer prior to each post making it illegal to reproduce it in the media? Fed up of dm ruining our threads!

Anyone got a suggestion how to foil these lazy useless journalists?

You can't because it's a public forum. It's lazy but it's legal. Public domain content is quotable. It's the same laws that mean you can quote from books/published essays in other books. Anything that you put out into the public domain is quotable. That includes social media posts set to public, posts on Reddit etc.

If you actually read the MNHQ t&cs it's all in there. A public forum has positives and negatives. As a positive it gains a wider audience as people don't have to register to read. This means more clicks/hits which means more cash which means a better service. As a negative it is quotable. This has ALWAYS been the case. People can rage all they like but there is nothing you can do except don't post.

In my opinion it makes it worse when MN users start threads saying oh look what the daily fail has quoted and provide a big fat click link. All they are doing is extending the coverage of the story. Other users click it to "see how terrible it is" thus giving the fail more clicks and more money. They more outraged people get the more publicity the fail get.

The best thing you can do is ignore the stories, don't go hunting for them and don't click on anything the fail write.

Problem is that whilst a lot of posters claim to be outraged at the daily mail and it's antics it's very very clear that a large percentage (possibly even a majority) of users read it on a regular basis. I wouldn't have a clue what posts are recreated in the mail, nor do I care because I don't read it.
Ultimately it's hypocrisy to call the daily mail out when they're reading it on a daily basis.
