Can we have a Tutors Corner, please?

Dear MNHQ

I think there are quite a number of users on here who work either full or part-time as private tutors and there are certainly lots of parents who are interested in private tuition/have questions about private tuition/how to find private tutor. I therefore wondered if it would be possible for there to be a separate topic specifically for private tuition?

Please? Flowers

No-one else? Oh. That's disappointing.

Would the Staffroom not be worth a try to post on? There are quite a few topics in Education that could prove useful.

I tutor. A very little bit. I think it would be useful.

Eg Home Ed?

I'm a tutor. I would like to see this too.

I'm sure there are more of us.

I have been tutoring GCSE and A2 English students recently after giving up classroom teaching in March. Would love to talk to others who are in the same boat.

I'm hoping to move my lessons to international students - teaching English online.

Anyone else teach online?

Would you use a category which was eg 'Home Ed and Tutoring'? Smile

cozietoesie · 16/06/2016 10:57

It's just that I'd guess that there might be some useful synergy there.

Oh, this would be great! I'd love a bit more support for this.

I think a separate topic would be good because not all teachers are experienced tutors and so The Staffroom isn't really the best place. It really is a different profession to classroom teaching. Also, many tutors work with a variety of students, not just Home Ed students. It would be a good place for parents to "ask a tutor" or for tutors to compare notes with e.g. student issues, best practice etc etc.

pilkio, I teach both face to face and online. Feel free to ask any questions about online, or pm me if you want.
