Is it me or are the numbers wrong on here??!!

Not sure if its MN or my pc , but when I go into a conversation the bracketed number of posts at the top is a random figure and not the number of posts, (and no Im not counting them all) Its just many of them have said (posts 4) & there's like loads more !!

I think the first post seems to count as 2

yeah always wondered that , but this is a different MN phenomina, I have only just noticed. See if you find the same when randomly opening a convo.

Well for me this thread read " 3 message" when I clicked on it - which was right.

But, on the active conversations list it is indeed one number higher!

Like this one here for e.g : it says theres only 3 posts but there are loads!!!

it would appear that the older messages on the thread are not being counted

now i'm not 100% sure on this but i think it's because the archived messages are stored in a different place to the current ones, and the message count is only looking at current messages on the thread

in most cases all the messages on a thread are current so the discrepancy isn't noticed, but well spotted melsy!

I did think that may be it was only looking at the current days posts the other day , but thought nothing of it, but then it was really niggling me!! goes back to my days of having to perfect spread sheets and packs for work stuff, my evil eye is coming back!!!

and yes, there is another issue whereby sometimes a thread will count 2 messages when it only has 1

this is a different issue but again one for the not-very-urgent-but-still-needs-sorting-sometime list
