Name Changing Broken?

NotQuiteCockney · 17/01/2007 14:13

I was just ... um ... testing? And found that:

a) it doesn't seem to accept names with any numbers in them at all (even if they're a good length etc)

b) if I pick a name with no numbers, it says "we already have a registration with that email address". Which, um ... duh!

Please sort this!

(I'm pretty sure I'm not doing something wrong, I'm reasonably familiar with name changing.)

I think cod was having problems with this too.

Yes, I was um ... testing? Whether I could change to "1001percnetcod". Just for scientific purposes, obviously.

This is still broken.

it only fails if there are numbers at the start

I can't seem to change to something that's just text. Let me try again.

Nope, maybe it's just my registration that's hosed? I get this error, if I try to change to any random string of letters:

Sorry, we couldn't make the change you requested because of the following error(s).

We already have a registration with that email address.

Another problem, that may be related: my nickname history is weird. Earlier today I could only see a very old namechange, and none of the more recent ones. Now I can only see the more recent ones, and can't see the old one.

Mine seems to let me change to anything I want - except as Is aid, the one with numbers at the front.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 20:12

To mention the email address implies it thinks you're trying to change the email address but someone's already registered with it (you obviously!) Usually it claims there's already someone with the same user name.

Um, initially I was trying to change to a typoed version of cod's possible new name, just to be snarky.

But I can't name change to anything, not even complete gibberish, so I know it's not a matter of the name I want being gone ...
