Tech - why doesn't active convos refresh itself any more

Twiglett · 15/01/2007 16:57

ever since the 'changes' I have to keep hitting refresh

it just doesn't do it itself

if I don't hit refresh I can be looking at a conversation list that is a couple of hours old

I find that weird

Hi Twiglett,

Do you mean if you click "active conversations" you get an old list?

Regards,
Tech

Did it used to refresh itself?? Never knew that!

AntEater · 15/01/2007 23:40

auto refresh, now there is an idea!

Twiglett · 16/01/2007 09:54

yes if I click active conversations it brings up an old list .. not when I first log on of course but every time after that .. so I can click on active conversations link and end up with the same active conversations as when I first logged on unless I also hit refresh

Hi Twiglett,

That sounds like it might be a problem with your web browser's local cache of pages. You could try clearing the cache to see if it helps.

Here's how to do this in Internet Explorer version 6. Choose Tools then Internet Options from the menu. In the dialog box that comes up there's a section in the middle labelled "Temporary Internet files" with three buttons.

Click the settings button and another dialog comes up. There's an option there "Check for newer versions of stored pages". Make sure that "Every visit to the page" is selected.

Click OK to close that box. Back in the Internet Options box, click click "Delete files" to should clear the currently stored pages. That may fix the issue.

By the way, depending on the size of your local page cache, when you click the delete button your computer might start grinding away for a few minutes and appear to freeze, while it's deleting files. It will recover after a few minutes.

Hope this helps,
Tech
