What's going on please? There's a couple of Local threads that keep appearing at the top of Active even though they've not recently been posted on.

It's annoying and it's got a giant green icon thing

OP posts:

I like it as I forget to go to my local site.

Wigeon · 27/05/2016 06:38

I like it, although the green pin thingie seems disproportionately big.

Feelingblue222 · 27/05/2016 08:27

I think it's a great idea but does still need tweaking!

My local board is not very active and often when I do go on someone's asked a question that no one has replied to in several weeks.

I think they do need differentiating somehow from general active threads (I.e. With the green pin thingy)

Agree a time limit though- probably 3-5 days

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 28/05/2016 11:22

Actually, further to my last comment, that's probably because I have hidden them. But it's really annoying that they still appear in Most Active witb the green pin. Get rid of the pin please!

ParakeetsInTheGarden · 08/06/2016 21:06

Is there any update on this please? I've tried to remove myself from the other local sites but that doesn't work either. On another Well Known Parenting Site, I regularly add myself to different local areas if we are going on holiday there. There is no way I would risk that on Mumsnet at the moment!

AmyGMumsnet · 14/06/2016 12:09

Hi there Parakeets

Sorry for the delayed reply.

So you're seeing threads from sites you've set as your 'favourites' as well as your home site? Is there any chance you could send us a screenshot of what you're seeing please? You can post it here or if you'd rather you can mail it over to [email protected]?

Thanks very much! This should help us get to the bottom of the issue Flowers

KateLivesInEngland · 14/06/2016 12:24

I've hidden loads of irrelevant-to-me threads and I'm sure they keep popping back up! it is a bit annoying.
I hide all the Local ones, I'm not interested in conversing in real life.

ParakeetsInTheGarden · 14/06/2016 14:00

Yes Amy , I was seeing threads from 'favourites' as well as my 'home site'. It seems to have been fixed since I posted before, but if any more appear I'll try and get a screenshot. (Threads I hide from Active conversations are still appearing, but I'm assuming you're aware of that?)

AuntieStella · 14/06/2016 20:07

How do you remove yourself from a local site?

I am utterly sick of hiding the same damned thread over and over again.

I thought I was OK with it, because you'd be fixing it so that when we hid a thread it stayed hidden, and got the green pinned thread when a new one was pinned.

But maybe that was never the plan.

So I just want to leave MN local. I've never joined a board, just shown an interest in one. And I can't work out how to disengage.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 15/06/2016 07:31

I've just spent several minutes trying to dissociate myself from my local site and found I can't. Every thread that has been green pinned so far has been totally irrelevant to me, asking for very specific information about places at least 20 miles away.

ParakeetsInTheGarden · 15/06/2016 21:09

I am predominantly getting threads from my home site (Bromley) now. However, tonight I have twice had a thread from Kent (one of my favourites) appear. A screenshot is hopefully attached.

It is still happening, and no matter how much I try to hide them, the same two threads just keep on reappearing.

I am not a member of a local site, and I want to delete the connection to the one that I looked at some time ago, which seems to have favourited itself, and for which there are no current instructions on how to remove.

Batboobs · 29/06/2016 08:51

I like that I can see what is going on, on the local board. It is usually completely dead (still is somewhat)...but I'm sure this will increase activity.

AmyGMumsnet · 29/06/2016 09:48

Good morning everyone

Apologies for the delay in coming back to you all.

Parakeets - tech have confirmed that you will see threads appear from all the Local sites you're connected with, so that includes your 'home' site (Bromley) and others you have set as favourites (Kent).

AuntieStella these threads behave like other stickies on active - you can hide them but they will pop up again when you refresh the page. In order to remove your local home site (or other ones you have favourited) then please go to your Local homepage and click on 'My Sites' at the top of the page, and then 'Edit my sites'. You should then be able to remove whichever ones you want to.

Hope that helps! Flowers

ParakeetsInTheGarden · 02/07/2016 21:41

Amy - Edit my sites doesn't work (as mentioned in my 8/6 post). When I select it, the window opens but even though I select the x on my two favourite sites, nothing happens.

ParakeetsInTheGarden · 02/07/2016 23:23

Confession... DH called the javascript via the console and my favourite sites are now gone. Something is not working with the on click handler.

AuntieStella · 03/07/2016 06:43

Sorry to nitpick, but...

a) other stickied threads do not reappear when the page is refreshed

b) I have no 'Edit Sites' option on the local page.
