FrannyMumsnet · 11/05/2016 16:47

Hello esteemed Mumsnetters!

SURVEY NOW CLOSED We tested a new test version of Talk for DESKTOP thanks to the volunteers who gave it the once over and answered the survey.

Original post said:
We’d like you to tell us about your experience of using this test version compared to the current live version.

You can find the test link and instructions for taking part in the Talk testing feedback survey

The test site is totally separate to this one and using it will not change any of your settings.

We look forward to getting your survey responses.

I can't log in with google on the test site. So I can't test it very well.

FrannyMumsnet · 13/05/2016 15:39

Bertie - We're interested in experience of reading more than anything. Logging in is not necessary. Thanks

Fiderer We love an optimist. Smile

I know, I suppose, but it's just hard to tell when all the threads are one post long :(

BertieBotts · 13/05/2016 15:59

Oh never mind - it did log me in apparently :) I can access TIO and everything now and see the bookmark links and my highlighting (which IMO does make a difference).

FrannyMumsnet · 13/05/2016 16:09

Great! - thanks Bertie

I've done it. I'm fairly indifferent to the appearance although the font is a little small for my liking.
I naively hoped the jumping up and down problem would have been fixed, but no it jumps about just as much as this one.

FruStefanOla · 13/05/2016 16:31

I've looked at it twice now. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking at. I don't know what's different Confused

coffeeisnectar · 13/05/2016 17:14

done

SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch · 14/05/2016 09:56

I can't see a difference either Fru. Thought it was just me!

FruStefanOla · 14/05/2016 10:24

Thank goodness it wasn't just me either Sheldons! I thought I was being a total numpty, although I'm using an oldish MacBookPro laptop with an oldish operating system, so maybe the new stuff is designed for newer OSs?

I might give it a try on my iPad (which is much newer) a bit later.

Seeyounearertime · 14/05/2016 10:31

I cant see a difference either? some of the fonts look slightly different but thats it?
certainly when i did a side by side comparison they looked the same?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2016 15:06

thank you for asking us to test this one.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2016 15:07

the new version is a little easier to read for my sort of visual impairment.

mrsfollowill · 15/05/2016 00:39

Done- only six threads on though- the mumsnet stickies at the top- so not great -just a blank screen below -although managed to change my forgotten password so that bit works! If anything it was all much smaller print so squinting was involved :-) on laptop and firefox

MangoBiscuit · 15/05/2016 13:14

Done, but I think my answers might be a bit irrelevant. I clicked the link to compare to the current talk, so I could leave this thread open in my first tab. So I've been comparing two newly opened tabs, one for the dev site, and one for the existing, but via the link. Both the fonts were exactly the same, but coming back to this tab I can see that they're not.

I think I prefer the Helvetica Neue (test), but I would slightly reduce the line-height (test was showing as 22px, the 19px on this page looks better). Also, not sure what you're trying to do with the font-weight. I prefer it at normal, or 400px for the Active Convos links and the post paragraphs.

FrannyMumsnet · 17/05/2016 15:26

All done! Thanks to everyone who took part.

Your feedback is really valuable.

Samcro · 17/05/2016 16:14

well its horrid now.....

MTPurse · 17/05/2016 17:28

I don't understand the point of getting testers if The info given is not taken on board?
