We need an edit facility!

I've seen on other posts on this subject you don't want people editing in such a way as to change the meaning of what they said but...

1 I think most mners and HQ would call them on that (it could even be made reason for a 'formal warning')

2 it could be timed eg 5 MIN only

3 I know you have the preview function but

A I don't always notice even if I preview
B most of us CBA to preview every single post!
C preview doesn't always work, I've posted small posts I've previewed and no SPAG errors only to post and SPAG errors appear

4 not having an edit button means thread flow interrupted by people

A misunderstanding a post due to SPAG errors
B people having to post to correct and explain what their post SHOULD have said

5 it's bloody annoying! Not having one that is.

The only way it could work is if the original post remained together with the edited version below.

Hullo everyone - many thanks for the suggestion Baconyum.

Although we do see the positive sides to this idea, as many posters have highlighted, we do believe this would cause more problems than it would solve and so this is not something we're considering at this time.

Do keep the thoughts and suggestions coming.
