No email for watched threads

Hi MN HQ,
I've posted about this before but it is happening again, I'm not getting any emails for threads on my watchlist. I have checked that there are threads that have been posted on since I last got an email.
Why does this keep happening??

They're pretty sporadic at the best of times, I agree. There also seem to be some 'rules' about when they're sent which are not shared with posters. ('Rules' would make sense, actually. Imagine clicking to watch a particularly active thread in AIBU for example - your email provider would likely develop indigestion. MNHQ ought to at least advise people broadly what they are, though.)

I agree. It would also be really useful if the "I'm watching" list had the threads that have new posts at the top, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
