Posting threads in Facebook

I just wanted to check if you notify the OP of a thread first before you link their thread to the Mumsnet Facebook page.

Why would they? I'm certain they don't. But FB is no more public than this website.

Don't post anything identifying here or there is good advice.

I don't think they do. I don't see why they would or should to be honest.

I didn't know there was a FB page, I've took a look and there is a post I started on there.

So to answer no they don't notify the OP.

No, a thread I started was on FB and I didn't get asked.

The Daily mail don't ask either, nor The Wright Stuff when threads end up on there complete with screenshots and nicknames.

Once it's on here it belongs to mumsnet. Best not to put anything you don't want RL to know about.

They don't own it, but you grant them a non-exclusive licence to use it.

I think it would be courteous to PM the OP, yes. But what difference would it make?

Hi there Vajayjay. The short answer is no we don't. As PPs have said, Facebook is no more public (less so in many ways) than Mumsnet so if you've shared a story on Mumsnet it's pretty much in the public domain already. Obviously we use our good sense though and don't share threads that are really sensitive, upsetting, identifying etc. Hope that answers your question.

I'd read a post where somebody had said their thread had been posted on the MN Facebook page and they'd asked for it to be removed so I just wondered if the OP of a thread was notified first.
